A very intensive month of workshops, technical dissemination and participation in events lies ahead the Team 5G-MEDIA. Our colleagues will outline the most significant objectives and preliminary outcomes of the project, explaining how 5G-MEDIA disrupts the Media Industry with the Power of 5G.
25th NEM General Assembly (May 30, Brussels, Belgium)
5G-MEDIA has been committed to collaborate with the European New European Media (NEM) Initiative since the beginning of the project towards the innovation of Media and Content over 5G. To reinforce our participation in the past NEM Summit 2017, our partner UPM will join the 25th NEM General Assembly.
QoMEX 2018 (May 30, Sardinia, Italy)
In parallel with the NEM Assembly, 5G-MEDIA will be involved in the 10th International Conference on Quality of Multimedia Experience (QoMEX) 2018. The primary goal of the conference is to bring together leading professionals and scientists in multimedia quality and user experience from around the world. Our colleagues from CERTH will present their results on “Subjective quality assessment of textured human full-body 3D-reconstructions” in the Technical Session OS5 – Video & 3D.
ACM SYSTOR 2018 (June 4-6, Haifa, Israel)
The ACM International Systems and Storage Conference (SYSTOR) 2018 is an international forum for interaction across the systems research community. The conference program includes innovative, peer-reviewed research papers in the broad area of systems and storage, as well as distinguished keynote lecturers, a poster session, and social events. Our partner IBM will have the opportunity to emphasize the value of cloud native Framework-as-a-Service (FaaS) technology to VNF orchestration in 5G-MEDIA scenarios, by presenting the poster “Towards Serverless NFV for 5G Media Applications“.
IEEE BMSB 2018 (June 8, Valencia, Spain)
The IEEE Broadband Multimedia Systems and Broadcasting (BMSB) 2018, the 13th in the series, is a the premier forum for the presentation and exchange of technical advances in the areas of multimedia broadcasting, telecommunications, consumer electronics, and networking technologies. In such scenario, 5G-MEDIA will host a dedicated workshop on “Media delivery innovations using flexible network models in 5G”. Our colleague Federico Alvarez, UPM, will chair this workshop with the objective of presenting the advances in 5G delivery networks for new media services, putting emphasis on the 5G-MEDIA Use Cases with 3 technical papers:
- “A System Architecture for Live Immersive 3D-Media Transcoding over 5G Networks“, presented by Alexandros Doumanoglou, CERTH
- “Mobile contribution, remote and smart production over 5G networks” presented by Madeleine Keltsch, IRT
- “Virtual CDNs over 5G networks: scenarios and requirements for ultra-high definition media distribution“, presented by Gino Carrozzo, Nextworks.
In addition to the workshop, Smatina Rizou, 5G-MEDIA Technical Coordinator and member of SingularLogic, collaborates in the main track paper “A platform architecture enabling programmable edge-to-cloud virtualization for the 5G Media industry“.
